Obituary for Peter J. Mongone Jr.

Peter J. Mongone Jr.
Peter J. Mongone, 69, of Margate, FL passed away on October 2, 2016 after a battle with bladder cancer. He was born in Astoria, Queens, NY on November 15, 1946, one of three children to Peter and Rita Mongone. Pete is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Bernadette; his children, Danielle (Stacey) Freels, P.J. Mongone, and Frankie (Merri) Mongone; and his grandchildren, Chae Vick, Brianna Freels, Cayden Freels, Gianna Mongone, Camryn Mongone, Makenzi Mongone, and Brooklyn Mongone. Also left to cherish his memory is his brother, Vincent Mongone. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Scala.

Peter was an outgoing, free-spirited man with an amazing sense of humor. It was these personality traits that made him well-loved by everyone who met him. Peter spent his days driving his bread route and his nights were filled with cherished family time. He adored his children and grandchildren beyond measure. In his free time, Peter could be found at the bowling alley or the casino playing poker. He also enjoyed the open road on his motorcycle and the time he could spend "with the guys." Peter was also involved with Knights of Columbus, serving as a fourth degree knight.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Savino-Weissman Funeral Home.
