George Lindsay
George Anthony Lindsay, 79, of Tamarac, passed away at home on Saturday, February 25, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones.He is survived by his wife, Kay Lindsay, whom he married on September 15, 1973.
He was born in Whitestone, Queens, NY to the late Millard and Dorothy McAleer Lindsay. He grew up in Flushing, NY in his “favorite person’s” home, Laura McAleer, his grandmother, along with his mother and 4 older brothers. George proudly served in the United States Navy and remained a true American Patriot until his passing. George was a retired New York City Firefighter where he proudly served at the “Fire Factory” in Harlem on Ladder 26-2 as a Truckee..George loved golfing, playing cards, doing the crossword puzzle in the daily paper, watching Jeopardy and of course, playing the lotto (and he always played the same numbers!) He also enjoyed the theatre, Phantom of the Opera, being one of his favorite plays.
George is survived by his older brother, Richard Lindsay and his wife, Patricia. He is predeceased by his older brothers: Francis “Chick”, Kenneth and Ronald. He is survived by his sisters-in-laws, Carol Lindsay and Lana Seaman. He leaves behind 5 children: Laura Lindsay, Anne Samek, John Lindsay, Amanda Taylor (Scott) and Mark T. George is predeceased by his son George, Jr. He had 10 grandchildren: Nicholas, Charissa, Lindsay, Michaela, Amber, Danielle, Johnny, Samantha, Ryan and Riley, and 1 great-grandchild, Leyla. He is further survived by many, many nieces and nephews, whom he loved as one of his own children.
A visitation to be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 4-8 PM at Savino Weissman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2950 N. State Rd. 7 Margate, Fl, 33063. Funeral Mass on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10 AM St. Malachy Catholic Church 6200 N.University Drive, Tamarac, Fl, 33021.
Interment Monday, March 6, 2017 at 1:45 PM South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 N State Rd 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449 Lane #1 by 1;30 PM
