Obituary for Carmelo Crupi

Carmelo  Crupi
In loving memory of Carmelo Crupi, loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle was born June 20th, 1921 to Guiseppi and Fortunata Crupi in Brooklyn, New York. He was the oldest of seven children. He met Rose Muccio in 1947 and they married in 1951. They had three children, Fortune, Joseph and Phyllis. Carmelo owned an Italian bread bakery with his father and brother, Rocco called Crupi & Sons. He later went on to become a limosine driver and a New York cab driver. He and Rose moved to Florida in 1979 where he took on the role as the greatest grandfather to Jessica, Michael and Matthew. At the age of 65 he started running in local charity races and went on to run the New York Marathon at the age of 69 finishing in 5 hours and 14 minutes. In 1986 he started working at Publix "where shopping is a pleasure"! He was employeed by Publix for 19 years stocking the bread aisle. At the age of 84, he finally retired and took a great part in caring for his grandchildren with Rose. His family was extended fifteen years ago when he gained four more grandchildren, Chris, Danielle, Arielle and GianCarlo. He outlived five of his siblings and many of his friends. Carmelo passed on October 5th, 2017 at the age of 96. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Rose, his daughters Fortune and Phyllis (Dennis) and his son Joe (Susan), his grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Matthew, Chris, Danielle, Arielle and GianCarlo as well as his sister Paulie.
