Obituary for Karl August Meier

Karl August Meier
Karl Meier born June 11 1944 passed away on December 8 2016.

He is survived by his spouse Christopher Charette and his seven brothers, Paul, Markus, Werner, Joe, Rudoff, Hanspeter and Bruno.

Born in Chur, Switzerland, he moved to Bellikon where his family owned a farm and local restaurant. Karl trained to be a chef and at an early age Karl left Switzerland for Canada. There he worked at several well known restaurants and hotels building his career.

While in Montreal he met his first lover Saul Izenberg and the two of them created a wonderful life and memories which lasted twelve years. Leaving the relationship Karl found his way to Florida where he began as a chef in Ft Lauderdale working for Leonce Picot who at the time owned three restaurants, Down Under, Casa Vecchia and La Vie Mason, all these restaurants were both popular and rated of the top ten in the city. When Karl was forty he met his second lover Christopher Charette who today is his spouse/husband. They were together thirty two years but only married one year.

Karl was loved by many due to his personality which was funny, caring, and most of all pure. He traveled extensively and enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an avid walker and hiker and loved the outdoors. His favorite animal was MooMoo cows. If he could he would of loved to return to Switzerland to live and have a place in the mountains with a garden and some chickens and at least one cow. It was easy to love him.

Attached are pictures of his life and travels with loved ones both family and friends. He will be greatly missed but know that if you were able to spend time or know Karl you have been blessed.

Life goes on and Karl was not afraid as he knew he had a good life and most of everything he wanted to do or see was complete. When you read this know that he wants us all to live our lives and be thankful that we have loved ones and are able to do the things that make us happy. Life is not to be taken for granted but to be cherished each day.

Today and everyday ask your loved one “Did I tell you I Love You”.
